CHELSEA BEAT MAN CITY AND CRUSH GUARDIOLA’S DREAM OF WINNING 1ST UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

After 9 long years, Chelsea lift the UEFA Champions League Trophy again, after thrashing Man. City in the UCL Final in a game that was fairly competitive.

Chelsea set the tone early in the match and Werner looked dangerous with his intelligent dribbles. Though Man. City controlled the ball for most of the time, it was Chelsea who took advantage of the situation in the 42nd minute of the 1st half as Kai Havertz, Chelsea’s most expensive player ever, repaid that price tag at the right time by scoring his 1st Champions League Goal with a delicate finish, cutting around Ederson to the left.

At this stage of the game, City’s hopes were shattered as nothing went in their way in the next half of the game. Kevin De Bruyne, the star player of City, ended up with a fractured nose and eye socket. He was forced to leave the pitch after being impeded by Antonio Rudiger, Chelsea’s strong and powerful center-back. De Bruyne went off the pitch, shedding tears of despair and hopelessness. His injury resulted as the last nail in the coffin and Man City continued to lose control of the match.

Although Man City won 3 corners, they couldn’t make the most out of their chances. Plus, Phil Foden’s powerful shots were blocked by Rudiger, ending City’s hopes to score/provide a counter.

N’Golo Kanté’s performance

There is no doubt that Kante, Chelsea’s central midfielder, is in the list of Chelsea’s Greats, who provided inspiration with his ability and skill, influencing the pitch with his tactical play. His absolutely stunning performance for Chelsea, both defensive and attacking, won him the Man of the Match award in the UCL Final. He not only controlled the pitch but proved as an exceptional playmaker, passing the ball to his teammates, which put immense pressure on Man. City.
